Help for the Easy Upload Mobile App

Android™ Edition

Overview

The Easy Upload mobile app is available to all life & health policy holders, annuity contract holders, and insurance agents/producers with a relationship to the ManhattanLife companies. Due to the increased resolutions of our modern scanning tools, the work to scan and manipulate images into the PDF format that is of acceptable size can be difficult.

This tool should make things much easier using your smartphone or tablet camera. The tabs on this website guide you in order of the steps that need to be taken to submit a document to the ManhattanLife companies.

To submit feedback or report a problem, you can always email tech support at MobileApps@ManhattanLife.com

Installation

This mobile application works on Android devices with Android version Oreo (8.0) or greater. You can install the mobile app on your device by clicking the Google Play Store link below, then Install, and then by following instructions:

Get it on Google Play

Upload Options

There are two ways to upload using the app. When the app first comes up, you will be asked to identify your role as a user:

Mobile App Screen

Uploading as a Policy/Contract Holder or Their Representative

Mobile App Screen

This option does not require a website registration. And this option is not available for Annuity Producers (please use the Agent/Producer login option instead).

Two pieces of information are required:

  • Policy/Contract Number - This is the actual policy/contract number for the life & health insurance policy or annuity contract and should not include any other numbers.
    • *IMPORTANT*: Life & health insurance policy numbers may appear with other numbers before them with just a space in between. Ignore any preceding numbers and use only the number after the space or dash.
    • *IMPORTANT*: Annuity contract numbers may have spaces in them. Make sure you enter the entire contract number including any spaces.
  • Policy/Contract Zip Code - This should be from the life & health insurance policy owner's or payor's address, or the annuity contract owner address. Not an Agent/Producer zip code.

Uploading as an Agent/Producer

Mobile App Screen

Uploading as an insurance agent or annuity producer requires log in credentials. These are the same credentials you use for the Life & Health Resource Center (ARC) and/or Annuity Producer Center (APC). website:

  • Username - This is your website username.
  • Password - This is your website password.

If you have trouble logging in with these credentials on the app, go to website's link above to resolve the issue by resetting your password or registering.

Scanning Document Pages

Once you've chosen your upload option, you will see the app's Home screen. Note that the screens look a bit different for policy/contract and agent/producer uploads. Generally though, this screen shows all of the uploads you have completed since logging into the app.

Annuity Contract Holder Screen
Agent Screen
Producer Screen

If You Are an Agent and a Producer

If you've logged in as an agent/producer, it is possible that your user account is registered to sell both insurance policies and annuity contracts.

Mobile App Screen

If this is the case, you will be presented with a checkbox to choose between uploading insurance or annuity related documents.

Scanning a Document

Along the bottom of the screen you will see tabs for each of the app's main screens (The dark one is the current page):

Mobile App Screen
  • Home - The home page showing recent uploads since you last logged in.
  • Scan - Launches the document scanner
  • Help - Brings you to this website for more information
  • Home - Logs you out of the application.

From the home page you can click the Scan tab on the bottom bar and the scanner will come up.

Mobile App Screen

For best results, use these tips:

  • Do this in a well lit room where your shadow won't cover the page too much.
  • One page at a time, put the page on dark background not too close to any edges of the table.
  • Scanning will automatically begin.
  • Aim your device's camera at the document and, while holding still, let the scanning automatically detect the document edges. You will hear the camera shutter sound when it completes.
  • If the scanner cannot find the document edges (because of lighting or because there are excessive lines on the page) you can click the camera button and the current image will be saved. If this is the case, you'll want to crop it later.

At the end of scanning, the document will be added to collection of pages on the Edit page where pages can be modified.

Modifying pages

Scan the pages you want to be a part of the upload in the correct order and you can modify them as needed. The edit screen shows the thumbnails for each page up top. Touch the thumbnail you want to modify to select it. You will be able to scroll around the full size Preview image to review it as needed:

Mobile App Screen

Near the bottom, the dark buttons are used to modify the currently selected page:

Adding a New Scanned Page

Using Pictures from your Device as Pages

Touch the Gallery button to add a new page that you can select from your device's Picture Gallery

Cropping Pages

Touch the Crop button to open the selected page in the crop screen. Upon opening, it will try and detect the document edges again. Use you finger just inside each corner to move the blue box over the image properly. Once it looks correct, you can touch the checkmark to accept it or the arrow icon on the left to push the cropping box back out to the edges to start over.

Rotating Pages

Each time the Rotate button is touched the image rotates.

Deleting Pages

Touch the Delete button to permanently remove the currently selected page from the collection

Press Continue...

...on the bar up top when finished editing the pages.

Uploading a Document

The upload page itself will look a bit different depending on whether you are uploading as a policy/contract holder or representative or an agent/producer, and whether you are uploading policy/contract documents or life & health enrollment applications.

Note that if you are trying this in DEMO mode, the upload button will still exist but you will see a DEMO mode label and, behind the scenes, a real upload will not take place.
